It isn’t often that you get the entire chapter behind an event, but Stevens THON’s 2023 Spell-A-THON ignited something in the chapter that we hadn’t seen in a long time. Brother Scott Miller was our representative in the round-robin style charity spelling bee, and he did a masterful job of it. The kicker is that this spelling bee involved ‘power ups’ that could be purchased with donations to the local children’s Miracle Network Hospital. The power ups ranged from do-overs to full out eliminations, the prices of which got to up to $100 at the final round. The guys reached out to alumni, family, and friends to rally support to get Scott his much deserved win. Scott faced multiple attempts at paid eliminations, but his Big (Dustin Conway 26′), grand big (Stephen Willey 23′), and even great grand big (Benjamin Gilmore 22′) came out of the woodwork to push Scott through! Brother Adrian Castellanos (22′) was a stand out supporter, putting in his own funds in addition to tapping countless other supporters. NJA managed to fundraise over $900 to get Scott his win with the final word of the night: “Lymphedema”
